BBB13

Hello.  Well, since it is the first Monday in August that means it is time for another Bring Back Beautiful Challenge.    Here are the details:

The Beauty of CAS. Many of us like to add bows, lace and lots of embellishments. This month we are asking you to leave all that off and create a CAS card. Link up your Bringing Back Beautiful Challenge creation HERE to enter. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB13. You have until August 31st to enter! As we unveil our challenge for next month, we’ll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge! Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!

I tried to make this as CAS as possible.  If you visit me often you know CAS is not my style, so for me to leave off all the goodies was not easy.  I used the beautiful new set called Sweet Nature.  I love the script background and Ranunculus are one of my favorite flowers.  Take a look HERE at all the pretty pictures of this amazing flower.  It is very similar to a Rose, but from my experience a very picky plant.  It definitely does not like heat.

The rest of the design team have some beautiful creations waiting for you.  Take a look!

CR84FN 35

What a week this has been.  First, I want to tell all of you thank you for all of your kind and generous comments you left me on my Christmas card.  I had to go out of town to Atlanta on Wednesday for my Uncle's funeral.  He died suddenly from a Massive Heart Attack.  My mom was from the Atlanta area and that is where my Nanny and Papa are buried as well as my Aunt and now my uncle.  I have not been back there since I was 16.  It is safe to say that I think it has been 20 years to the month.  I was feeling bad for myself when my mom passed away last month because all I have left is my dad and brother.  Well, my poor cousin has nobody now.  He is 28 years old without a  mom, dad, or siblings now.  I have learned one very valuable lesson....life is too short.  Enjoy everything you have and the people in your life.  You never know what tomorrow will bring.

Was that a bit deep for you?  Sorry.  I will get to the point and show you what I have to share.Edit HTML

I added a little glitter to the inside of the butterfly wings.  This set from PTI is one of my favorites called Flutterby Friend.  You can make all kinds of cute little scenes with this one.  I felt like I had to keep this one a little more CAS so I didn't make it look overdone.  Know what I mean?

Here is the beautiful graphic to inspire you this week at CR84FN.

Moments In Time

Hello.  I am popping in real quick to show you a card that I actually made a couple weeks ago but couldn't share until the new release at Flourishes.  I used the new set Moments In Time and the Bo Bunny paper pack called Gabrielle Collection, both found in the Flourishes store.

I think this paper is perfect for this set.  So antique and vintage looking.  Don't you agree?  I realized that I didn't leave myself room for a sentiment after it was all said and done.  This set has some great sentiments that I will just add to the inside when I decide to give it away.

I am off to find something to eat for dinner.  This is what I call "fend for yourself night" ...otherwise known as I am not cooking tonight.  Ha!

Have a wonderful weekend,
Heather

Thank You / Sweet Sunday

Thank goodness it is Friday!  It seems time is flying by lately.  I just found out that my son will have to be bused to a new Middle School because the one he was going to is overcrowded.  I don't have a problem with the school, it is brand new and in a good part of town, the problem I have is that he will be on the bus for a long time each way.  They will bus the kids to the normal school he was supposed to attend then bus them to the new school.  CRAZY, right?  What the heck?  They just announced this 2 weeks before school starts and have not even notified the parents yet or asked for our input on the situation.  I found this out through the grapevine...and it is true.   The new Superintendent made the decision this week and it has a lot of parents upset.  Soo I guess I have no say in the matter.

So, I made a card today using the new sketch at Sweet Sunday.  I knew it was perfect for one of my new favorite PTI sets called Botanical Silhouettes and my beautiful Melissa Frances paper that is being horribly neglected.

I need to get some new pink ink.  This one is so light that it doesn't even show in the photo.  I have my eyes on some of the ink sets at Stampin' Up.  I think that will be one of my next purchases.  I used some Tim Holtz Tattered Rose distress Stickles on my flowers.  Heck I am impressed that I could sew along the tails of the piece of paper going vertically.

Timeless Tuesday 127

I can't believe that summer is coming to an end already.  My son starts back to school in a little over 2 weeks.  I have not bought one single school supply or school clothes, and he is in need of a hair cut!  He also had to get shots to go into the 6th grade, and a new updated "Blue Card" that is required here in the state of Alabama. There is always so many things to do and never enough time to do it in.

So with all that said it is time for another Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge.  Silke gave us this beautiful inspiration photo to get your mojo going.  Again, I love purple and just don't have enough of it in my crafty supply, especially not grey.  This one was definitely a challenge for me.  I do like the way it turned out though.

I used the new set that Flourishes just released called Sweet Nature (sentiment) and one from a couple releases ago called Country Charm Labels (flourish).  The pretty brad on my bow is from one of the past Kit of the Month.

The beautiful inspiration photo is courtesy Crate & Barrel.

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI Rustic White, Grey is from stash
DP: Basic Grey and My Minds Eye
Ribbon and Lace: Offray
Brad: Flourishes store
Spellbinders: Fancy Tags
Ink: Memnto/ Tuxedo Black, Lulu Lavender

CR84FN 34

It is that time of the month again.  Remember that for the summer we are doing biweekly color challenges at CR84FN.   You are going to love these colors.

I used my new PTI set called Garden Variety.  I have to admit that I wasn't sure I wanted this set when it first came out.  I was not very fond of the odd shaped die and seed pack image that was in this set, but I love everything else about it so I went ahead and ordered it anyway.  What do you think?

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI/ Rustic Cream and Kraft
DP: My Minds Eye
Stamps: PT/ Garden Variety
Ink: Memento/ Rich Cocoa, Cottage Ivy, Cantalope,  Pink Geranium (Martha Stewart)
Ribbon: Offray
Lace: On the botton~Spare Parts/Hobby Lobby brand,  On the watering can/Prima
Button and Twine: PTI

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday 126

It is time for another Flourishes Timeless Tuesday.  Cindy is challenging us to Embossing either wet/dry.  I decided to use one of my horribly neglected Embossing Folders.  I love the way it makes the white ledger paper look.

The Iris was not so easy for me to color.  I just about went blind trying to color the small spaces.  I think age is starting to set in.  I might need glasses for my coloring.  Sad!  This flower comes from A Year In Flowers2.

I used Chupa's sketch over at Sketchbook Saturday.  Her sketches are AWESOME!

Make sure to check out what the rest of the designers have created for you.

Vintage Picnic / Thank You

I have been busy working ahead on a lot of DT projects, and I had some time today to make something for fun.  I have wanted PTI's Vintage Picnic since I first started my blog.  When they came out with the die I was sold for sure.  I couldn't wait to ink it up.

I used two other PTI sets as well,  Mat Stack 4 and the flower on the sentiment came from Just For You.

I played along with the girls over at The Sweet Shop.  They have great sketches and I don't get to play nearly as much as I like.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I will have a lot to share with you this week.  Flourishes new release starts on Wednesday.  You won't be disappointed.  Stay tuned!

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI/Rustic White, White, Kraft
DP: Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe
Seam Binding: Bluebird Lane Etsy
Button: PTI
Twine: Martha Stewart
Ink: Memento/Tuxedo Black

Have a wonderful week,
Heather

Farm Fresh

Hello and Happy Saturday!  I am popping in real quick to show you a card I made for Flourishes Farm Fresh Challenge.  I have had the Seeds of Friendship and Berry Sweet sets for quite a while.  I can safely say they have been neglected.  So when I saw this challenge I jumped at the chance to use them again.

Instead of listing all the Copics I used I just took a picture.  Somehow the YG93 snuck in there.  I didn't use it though.

Cardstock: PTI Rustic Cream, Kraft
DP: October Afternoon/Fly A Kite
Seam Binding: Memrie Mare
Button and Twine: PTI
Ink: Memento/Tuxedo Black, Rich Cocoa  & Tim Holtz Distress inks: Antique Linen, Vintage Photo

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a wonderful weekend,

Timeless Tuesday 125

First of all I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July.  We didn't do anything special for the day.  I did buy my  son some of the little ground fireworks like tanks, parachutes, and some spinning eyeballs, plus a great little box that shot tons of colors out for over a minute.  That was a shocker.  He enjoys them a lot!

It is time for another Timeless Tuesday challenge and it is my week to hostess.  I am challenging you to make a card for a friend across the miles or nearby. The card must have the word FRIEND in the sentiment.

I really wanted to color these Gerber Daisies a peachy color, but was lacking in that department for colored papers, so I used yellow and turquoise.  Can you tell I still had this gingham paper on my desk from yesterday?  Ha!

I used the set from Flourishes called Gerber Daisies.  The pretty Cotton Linen ribbon can be found HERE.  They have several colors and I plan on tea staining some, I bet it will be beautiful.  I used the Copic collection called Sunflowers from the Flourishes store as well.

I used the fabulous sketch from Sketchbook Saturday that fellow BBB design team mate Cupa has for you to use.

Bring Back Beautiful The Beauty of Summertime/Vacation

WOW.  I can't believe it is July already.  You know what that means?  It is time for another Bring Back Beautiful challenge.   This month the theme is:

The beauty of Summer or Vacation. As summer is in full swing we are enjoying the warmer temperatures and many are going on vacation. Make a creation with the theme of summer or vacation and link up your Bringing Back Beautiful Challenge creation HERE to enter. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB12. You have until July 31st to enter! As we unveil our challenge for next month, we’ll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge! Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!

I used the adorable new set from Flourishes called Garden Fresh.  I love the summertime because that means fresh veggies from my own garden.  I have fewer veggies than I have ever had this year.  The dirt/clay that is here in AL is NOT very good to grow anything in.  I even dug out a big hole and filled it with good dirt I bought at Lowe's.  I have 3 Tomato plants, 2 Bell Pepper plants, and a Cucumber vine.  I have already been getting tomatoes and cucumbers ripe from the vines, I am waiting on the Bell Peppers.

I used the sketch from Deconstructed Sketch No.8

We have a few changes here on the Bring Back Beautiful team.  We have two new members that you will LOVE.  Mona Pendleton and Iwona Palamountain are joining us and we are just delighted that there are here.  Both girls have a wonderful sense of design and I know they will inspire you just as much as the rest of the girls here on the BBB team.  Please make sure you stop by and welcome them to the team.

CR84FN 33

I can tell you that I love this weeks colors at CR84FN and I think you will too.  Pretty pink, red, and a neutral.  I am a little disappointed in how light the pink colored ink is on the top of the button card.  I don't have anything in between this light of a pink and a brighter pink.

I used some of the Girls' Paperie paper along with the PTI set Button Boutique.  I found some old vintage looking fabric in my stash that matched perfectly to the color combo so I cut it out using the die that came with the Button set.  Border punch: Fiskars/ Effervesence, Seam Binding: Bluebird Lane Etsy, Ink: Memento Angel Pink and Martha Stewart Red Chrysanthemum, Buttons: PTI
