WOW! It's been two weeks since I posted last. I didn't intend to be MIA for so long. I started a new summer job on the 13th and it's been crazy ever since. I didn't work last summer and ended up regretting it. I can only sit around for so long until I start to go crazy. As you know if you follow me regularly, I work at my local high school and that means summers off. I decided to take a job working with severely, mentally and physically disabled young adults. This is totally different than anything I have ever done and is mentally and physically taxing on my body. Needless to say, I haven't felt much like heading to my craft room on my days off.
On to the card I am sharing today. One of the assistant principals at the school I work at took a job as Principal at another high school. I made this card to congratulate him on his new journey. He was in charge of special ed, so we saw him on a regular basis throughout the year. He will be greatly missed.
I used one of my Flourishes sets called Old Tea Rose, it's one of my all time favorites and I love coloring it. Since I used a rose, I tried to keep the rest of the card masculine. I haven't colored since I left the Flourishes senior design team and hadn't felt much like doing so until now.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
Heather
Wow Heather....you may have been out of your craft room for a bit, but you certainly haven't lost your touch! Your coloring is as gorgeous as ever and I love the simple card layout! I am sure your principal will appreciate your thoughtfulness. So happy to see your post tonight! Hugs....
ReplyDeleteMy hat's off to you Heather for taking on this new job. I'm sure it's tiring yet rewarding at the same time. Your coloring on this flowe- is fabulous, your former co=worker will appreciate the work you put into it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous card, I bet your tired after working. I started my nursing career many moons ago in this field registering as a psychopaedic nurse which is no longer a relevant registration here :)so had to move on to general nursing.
ReplyDeletegorgeous card, heather! i admire you choosing to help those who can't help themselves this summer:)
ReplyDeleteThis is such beautiful soft coloring of a lovely image, and it still looks very masculine. You've still got the touch! You're doing a very noble thing in your job, Heather. After 30 years on the job I would love nothing better than to have summer off, or every day, for that matter. I'm going back to work today after a week off and every moment was filled between Rich and the dogs, the garden, housework, friends, stamping, blogging, on and on and on. So ready for retirement!
