So on to the challenge for this week. Silke is challenging us to make a Father's Day card. I used the set called A Guiding Light. My father is retired Navy. He served for 21 years starting off on a submarine then on to big ships. When I saw this set I knew I had to have it....it is perfect!
I used papers from Websters Pages (Yacht Club) which is now available in a wonderful 123 kit in the store HERE. I used Spellbinders standard Ovals and lightly colored the image then sponged with Tim Holtz distress ink. I also added a little twine and tag.
I used the wonderful sentiment that is in this set for the inside of the card. Let me tell you how much I LOVE this set. See the faint rope that I stamped to the left?
This is the ship my father was on. The USS Mount Whitney. He retired when we lived in Virgina Beach. I remember watching him come in on this ship many times over the 7 years we lived there. I told him the other day that I wanted to travel the world and see a lot of different countries. He told me to join the Navy. I laughed. He always told me when I was younger that I needed to join the military because I needed discipline. Ha! I think I am pretty darn disciplined.
