Lot's of Love

Hello everyone.  I got to make another card today.  I am so excited.  Two days in a row.  Now that the holidays are over I have alot less on my plate, and can concentrate on my blog.
I made a card for The Playdate Cafe using the colors and then the CPS challenge was any sketch in 2009.  I chose #102 as my sketch.  The colors also fit into The Color Dare challenge.

I loved this color combo, and I though it went great with the sketch challenge.  I knew when I saw the colors that I wanted the main colors to be the pink and brown and for the blue to be the accent color.  I am so happy to be back in my craft room.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Raspberry Suite # 20

Hello everyone.  Guess what?  I was able to squeeze a card in tonight.  Yeah!  I just had to participate in Dawn's Raspberry Suite challenge .  I have had so much to do lately and felt guilty I hadn't participated in any challenges this week.  I am squeeking in just on time.  Hope I made it Dawn.  :)

I made a clean and simple card.  I know not everyone likes the vintage froo froo stuff that I do.  :)

Treats for my son

Hello blog friends.  I have been sooo busy lately.  I can't seem to get much of what I want to do accomplished.  I did make party mix the other day.  The containers I used are from nuts that I buy at Target.  I saved them knowing that I would use them some day.  There are two sizes.  I made the big one for my Aunt,  but  forgot to take a picture.  I used Martha Stewarts Christmas paper from last year.

I cut the tag on my Cricut using Tags, Bags, Boxes cartridge.  The stamp for the tag is Paper Trey Ink.  Gingerbread man stamp is Inkadinkado.  Ribbon is from Michaels.  I thought this would be a great non sugary treat for my son to keep in his room.  I am almost finished with my wrapping and everything else, so I will be able to get back to my blog.  See you all soon.  Thanks for stopping by.

Greetings

Hello everyone.  How are you all doing tonight?  I have a little cabin fever.  I can't stand being stuck inside.  The roads are still not very good.  I made a card tonight for The Playdate Cafe.  My pink is a little lighter than the pink called for.  Hope that is ok Julie.  I had a heck of a time with this ribbon.  It was so silky.  It just didn't want to stay where I put it.  It is silky on both sides not just one like most.  Anyway, onto the card.

   I guess I am hooked on these doily's.  I can't stop using them.  I also keep the ribbon that comes on anything.  You would be surprised how much ribbon is on all kinds of things.

Snowed In

Hello my wonderful blog friends.  I am snowed in today.  We got 15.6 inches of snow with some 5 foot drifts.  My car was completely covered plus about 3 more feet on top.  It took my poor husband two trips outside to get everything shoveled and my car dug out.  I just got a call that school is canceled tomorrow too.  I guess I will be making more cards tomorrow too.  DARN! :O)
I made a card this morning for The Color Throwdown and CPS sketch.

I am just in love with the all the vintage goodies from K and Company this Christmas.  The little pin in the ribbon is handmade.  It is a headpin from my jewelry making box with a couple of pearl beads.  I finally got a flower frog to hold my cards while I take pictures.  My boss at work sells antiques, so I purchased it from her.  If you are ever in Des Moines, Iowa, she has a booth at The Brass Armadillo.

Christmas ornaments

Hello everyone.  We got 15 inches of snow here in Iowa.  I think we will not be going anywhere for a while.  I decided I was going to post some pictures of my favorite ornaments from my childhood.  I just can't wait to get them out each year and at the end of the season I wrap them up carefully and put them in an ornament box.

These two pictures are of my favorite ornaments.  I put the two on the same branch so I could get them in the picture together.

I have two sets.  The bulb shape and the long skinny stripe kind.
The bird is not vintage!  :)

I love the Santa's on my shelf.  The one on the right is actually a tree topper.  He is just way too heavy to put on any tree.
Thanks for stopping by to take a look.  I am off to make some more cards.

Two Cards

Hello blog friends.  I came home today made dinner then went to my craft area and made two cards for a couple challenges.  A new challenge for me is The Playdate Cafe.  Julie has a great color challenge to inspire you.  I decided to make a Christmas card since I still needed to make a few more.  Here is my take on the challenge.  I decided to combine it with the sketch challenge over at Card Patterns.

Cardstock:: Bazzil ~White
Patterened Paper:: Basic Grey~Figgy Pudding
Embossing Folder:: Cuttlebug
Vintage Image:: from my book
Ribbon:: Target
Button::
Boarder Punch:: Fiskars
Twine:: Archivers

For my second card tonight I played over at SPCC for the color challenge and combined it with the sketch at 2 Sketches 4 U  .  I really love combining color challenges with sketch challenges.  I don't think I would
be able to get them done otherwise.  So here is my take on the two.

I decided to flip this one as well.  I just put the circle on the other side.
Cardstock:: Archivers~Craft  / Blue~ Bazzil
Patterened Paper::  Daisy D's
Paper Doily::
Chipboard Image:: K and Company

Thanks so much everyone for stopping by.  I enjoy seeing what you all create as well.  I will visit you if you leave me a comment.  I get so much inspiration and great ideas from all my blog friends.  I am awaiting the 12 inches of snow from a blizzard we have coming throught.  Thunder snow!  Woohoo.  :)
Good night,
Heather

JOY

I was so into making cards today that I decided to make one more.  I haven't participated in the SPCC challenge yet either.  I have had my eye on a few other challenges, just never could get around to making one.  It was a color combo of a pale purple, red, white.  I used my Giga Guide Lines Two stamps that I just got a few weeks ago.  I made a card for my father's birthday last week using this set and just wasn't happy with the results.  I had to play a little on scrap paper for a bit. I think I am ok with the outcome this time.

Celebrate The Season

Hello blog friends.  How is your weekend going so far?  Mine is great.  I went to Archivers this morning for a free make and take.  It was a tiny little bucket you get to decorate.  Guess what?  They dont have any to sell.  Can you believe that.
I made two cards today.  One for Just Us Girls and one for Get Sketchy.  I haven't participated in a Jugs challenge before.  Hope you girls at Jugs like this.  I loved  the sketch for both, so I guess that I lucked out.  Some can be very challenging.  I enjoyed making both cards and was happy with the end result.

Season's Greetings

Hello everyone.  How has your week been so far?  Pretty good for me.  I made this sign for my front door last night.  I realized I still had my fall sign still up.
I used a thick piece of chip board cut to 6x12.  The paper is from Martha Stewart last year.  I made the accordian flower from a piece of cardstock 12 inches long scorred at every 1/4 inch.  Then I used Martha Stewart antique silver glitter for the edges.  The santa and snowflake are K and Co.  The ribbon is just a sattin ribbon from a craft store.  I cut out the Season's Greetings on my Cricut using the new Winter Wonderland cartridge.

I wanted to keep it simple yet pretty.  I like how everything looks better with glitter.  Don't you agree?  Let me tell you...I was covered in glitter.  Good thing I did this at night.  I had to get straight in the shower.

Birthday Wishes

My dads birthday is on the 4th of December and I made him a card using my new Guide Lines 2 from Paper Trey Ink .  I have seen all of the design team make wonderful cards using this set.  Every time I wanted to order, it was out of stock.  I was finally  able to order last month and this is the first card I  made with this set.  It wasn't too hard to line up all the stmps.  I just stamped the guide lines in Versamark so it barely showed, then stamped the others inside and around.  I think this is the best masculine card I have made.  They are alway the biggest challenge for me.  What do you think?

I want to thank everyone who stops by and takes the time to leave me comments.  I appreciate it and read each and every one of them.  I have to run now and get this in the mail if it is to get to Alabama by the 4th.
Have a great day!

Vintage Christmas

I decided to take part in the Card Patterns #43 challenge.  I got a book a couple years ago with some vintage Christmas images.  I used it a little last year and decided to use it again.  It has beautiful images in it.  It comes with a disc that you download to your computer and you just print them off on cardstock.  Love it!

Oh, and by the way..I decided to look up what the words were in the top left corner of the image.  It means Happy New Year.  Guess I need to look these things up BEFORE I make my card next time.  We just won't tell anyone else.  :)  Oh well, it looks Christmas to me.

Blurry Thank You

Hello everyone.  Did you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving?  I did.  I had to go in and work a few hours at night on Black Friday.  Let me tell you...some people just don't have a care in the world for others.  I hate to have to say that, but it is true.  Anyway, I made this cute card for CPS 144 and Embellish Magazine.  I took about 10 pictures and they were all blurry.  I thought it had to be the stamp.  It had some lines that I thought could have cause the camera to be confused.  Well I restamped a new sentiment and took it back outside and guess what?  It is still blurry.  I cleaned the lense... I took the picture in several different places...used all settings on my camera...cleaned it up in picasa.  NOTHING!  I dont know what to do.  Maybe it is the paper.  So here it is.  If anyone knows what I could have done PLEASE tell me.  I have a pretty good camera.  Sony cyber-shot  8.1 mega pixels  Carl Zeiss lense.  Maybe one of you will have a suggestion.

Okay everyone.  I figured it out by accident.  I had the macro turned off.   I am going to leave both pics up so if there is anyone else who has the same problem maybe this will help.

Happy Thanksgiving

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels.  I will be spending my Thanksgiving with my husband, son, and stepson at my BFF's parents house.  They have been so kind to invite us to thier home the last 3 years.  My parents live in Alabama, so I dont get to spend the holidays with them.  I am grateful to have special people to spend Thanksgiving with.

I made a card tonight that fits the Color Throwdown and the Card Patterns challenge.  Let me tell you...this was definately a challenge for me.  Not colors I would normally use, but in the end I am very happy with it.  I love how the the little skunk is offering a flower.  How cute!

I also made a card the other night for The Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #19 and The Taylored Expressions Challenge.  This one I am not sure about.  It doesnt look anything like what I normally make.  What do ya do?  Oh well.I think it is just simpler than what I like.  It fits the color combo and the sketch so it will have to do.  Guess ya can't love em all.

And one last picture for you

This fat little guy just finished raiding my bird feeder.  I love the birds and feed them all year round.  Some times...okay most times the squirrels help themselves too.  Oh well, gotta feed em all.  Even the deer eat out of my ground feeder.  I am a huge animal lover and enjoy watching all the little critters eat.  Except the raccoons.  They are horrible, they break the feeders trying to get to the food.

Crazy week

I have been so busy this week that I just got a card finished for the Color Throwdown and CPS.  I had to take my son to the doctor to have his fasting blood sugar taken.  He has had trouble with this lately and when I took him the doctor she just about dismissed my concerns.  I asked for some blood work to be ran.   She called the next day with the results and said "oddly enough...his level is out of the normal range" (high).   Really?  I dont know why she thought I didnt know my son.   I knew he was having trouble with this.  So I am now waiting for the results on the second testing.  My husband is having some issues as well.  He is going to have to see a specialist on Tuesday.  I guess we will find out what is going on next week.  I have a bulging disc in my back around the left shoulder area that has been  hurting for over a year now.  I had an x-ray on Wednesday and they called with the results...Arthritis.  I tell you.  We are falling apart over here.

On a lighter note.  I took the sketch from CPS and the colors from the Color Throwdown and made a card to submit in the nick of time.

The colors are a little off.  I tried to rush up and take a picture before the sun went down.  The green looks a little more grey.  It is dark by 4:30 or shortly after here.  That is the one thing I dont like about fall and winter months.

GIVEAWAY

Hello everybody.  I have been blogging for 1 month now.  Time goes by so fast.  I decided to have a giveaway for my anniversary.  Leave a comment and tell me about any tips, tricks, or techniques that I need to know to have a successful blog and I will choose 1 random winner next Wed by 12:00pm central time.  I appreciate any and all comments (just 1 per person please).

I have 8  5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch pieces of Making Memories paper, ribbon, and lots of embellishments. I used some of Regina's The Cutting Cafe' images for the scalloped tags and the Bingo card.  I love her stuff.  I cant forget...a bottle of my favorite Martha Stewart glitter.

I had to take another picture because I forgot to put the bingo card in.

The picture of the bag didn't take very well.  I am sure someone will be able to make some beautiful cards or special projects with these goodies.  Good luck and thanks so much again.

Embellish Magazine

Ok, so I looked at this weeks colors and it is nothing I usually use for colors except for maybe a kids birthday card or something.  Well this is what I came up with.

I actually used something other than Basic Grey.  LOL.  This is DCWV patterened paper with Hero Arts stamp.  I embossed the white strip with my Cuttlebug and put brads in the middle of the flowers.

I am so happy!  I orderd some Papertrey Ink stamps and some goodies last night.  I hope to get them soon.  I will have a post on Wednesday or Thursday with some blog candy for my 1 month blogoversary.  I can't believe a month has gone by already.  I have been saying for over a year that I was going to start a blog.  I didnt realize how easy it was.  I am not a huge computer person.  I can look anything up your heart desires but, when it come to apps and programs, well....that is another whole story.
Well thank you everyone who stopped by to leave me the wonderful comments I so much enjoy.  Stop back Thursday to see what goodies I have come up with for one lucky winner to receive.
Thanks for stopping by;

Card Patterns #41

Hello everyone.  I just finished a card for the new Card Patterns sketch.  I had alot of fun making this card.  I used alot of glitter.  This week has been a long one and I was very happy to sit down and make a couple cards tonight.  I found these accordian flowers on the wonderful Kelly Lunceford's blog. They are absolutely beautiful.  I made a small one but, she tells you how to make different sizes.  Here is the link so you can make your own.    http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2009/03/accordian-flower-tutorial-q-and-and.html

I used K and Co paper and stamp.  I made the accordian flower and misted it with Glimmer Mist, then dipped it in glue then my oh so favorite Martha Stewart tensil glitter.  I cut the vine out on my Cricut using the Storybook cartridge.  I used some super dooper sticky take and put it around the square with the stamped image and used more MS glitter.

I took this picture at night so as soon as we get sun again I am going to take a new pic and repost it here.  Thanks to everyone who stops by.  I greatly appreciate your time.  Good night and sweet dreams.

Color Throwdown

Hello everybody.  When I saw the colors for the throwdown I thought oh my goodness, how am I going to do those colors.  They are nothing that I usually use.  I looked through my huge stash of Basic Grey papers and found the Ambrosia collection.  Perfect.  As soon as I saw the paper I wanted to use I thought it looked like old wallpaper.  Then insantly I thought about the Cricut cartridge Home Decor with the chandelier.  I cut the chandelier out and then glittered it with Martha Stewart glitter , used a piece of red satin ribbon, adhered it alll and there we have it.  Simple and pretty.

CPS 141

I used My Minds Eye paper for this card and cut the skates and the square scallop out on my Cricut (Joys of the season), then used Martha Stewart glitter on the skates.  The saying is from the Cutting Cafe.  I inked the edges of the card with white ink, then used a little brown chalk for the edges of the skates and scallop to age a bit.  The twine is also Martha Stewart.  The otther ribbon?  I collect  every pice of ribbon that comes on anything, so some are just random pieces
