Congratulations on Your New Job

WOW!  It's been two weeks since I posted last.  I didn't intend to be MIA for so long.  I started a new summer job on the 13th and it's been crazy ever since.  I didn't work last summer and ended up regretting it.  I can only sit around for so long until I start to go crazy.  As you know if you follow me regularly, I work at my local high school and that means summers off. I decided to take a job working with severely, mentally and physically disabled young adults.  This is totally different than anything I have ever done and is mentally and physically taxing on my body. Needless to say, I haven't felt much like heading to my craft room on my days off.

On to the card I am sharing today.  One of the assistant principals at the school I work at took a job as Principal at another high school.  I made this card to congratulate him on his new journey.  He was in charge of special ed, so we saw him on a regular basis throughout the year.  He will be greatly missed.

I used one of my Flourishes sets called Old Tea Rose, it's one of my all time favorites and I love coloring it.  Since I used a rose, I tried to keep the rest of the card masculine.  I haven't colored since I left the Flourishes senior design team and hadn't felt much like doing so until now.

Happy Father's Day 2014

Just popping in to share the card I made for my son to give to my husband on Father's Day.  I wanted something very simple and not over embellished.  I'm happy with how it turned out.

I hope you all have a wonderful Father's Day with your husbands and fathers!

Dimensional adhesive was used behind the mat layer and sentiment label.  While creating this, I found out that Fuse Green cardstock and Summer Starfruit ink from SU are a perfect match!  The label is stamped in Island Indigo with Summer Starfruit for the sentiment.

Color Q #245

Hello, my sweet blog friends!  I have a card to share that I made at my friend Marsha's this afternoon, using her Stampin Up products.  This is the first time I've used Stampin' Up stamps and the coordinating punches.  I have to say it was pretty easy to stamp the flower and then punch it out with a coordinating punch.

****I've not been happy with my photos lately.  Is it possible that the bulbs for my light tent can lose their brightness before they burn out?  I haven't changed anything on my camera or in my light tent, but my photos are looking duller.  I tried a black background as well as white.  Which do you like better?***

I love these pretty colors together, but the Pacific Point I could do without.  I always have the hardest time using darker colors like that.  It isn't in my nature to like or use the primary color family.  If you notice, I used as little of it as I could to participate in the challenge.  ;)

Here are the pretty colors that I used from The Color Q Challenge.

My friend, Marsha, that I was referring to at the beginning of the post, sells Stampin' up.  You can find her online store HERE.  I used those exact ink pad colors as stated in the Color graphic below.  The stamps set is called Flower Shop and I used the clear mount.  The fabulous embossing folder that I am in love with is called Textured Arrows.

Deconstructed Sketch 154

Three posts in three days, I can't believe it!  Haha!  I spent some time yesterday creating this card using my pretty PTI Simple Sunflower stamp set.  I adore this set and have used it more times than most of the sets that I own.  The good thing is, it's only $5 for the stamp set and $7 for the coordinating dies.  Score!

I used the sketch at The Deconstructed Sketch, but for some reason wasn't able to capture the image of the sketch.  So make sure you go check it out and play along.  I love that Jen keeps the link open for a VERY long time just in case you forget to link up or type your post right away.  We've all done that a time or two, haven't we?

Happy Father's Day 2014

Hello and Happy Monday!  The card I have today was created for my father for Father's Day.  I pulled out my PTI Mat Stacks 2 & 5 and made a quick and easy card.  I love how well the Mat Stack sets work for masculine cards, as you can make them simple and in any color you like.  On the other hand, if you wanted a feminine card you could dress it up with layers from doily dies like I did HERE on this card a couple years ago.

Stampin' Royalty has a "Masculine Challenge" this week.  Perfect since Father's Day is just around the corner!

Butterfly Fusion

Why, hello there!  Long time no blog!  I've been super busy the last couple weeks. With school coming to an end and trying to get ready for summer, the past couple weeks has come and gone so fast.  We had a very soggy day here in Iowa, which makes for a perfect craft day.

I pulled out various PTI sets that have butterflies in them to use on this card.  I absolutely adore the bright fun color palette in the inspiration photo below.  This is my take from that photo.

I played along at the Fusion Card Challenge.  Look at this beautiful inspiration photo and sketch.
