Layers of Color / Guest DT

Hello!  I told you I would be back.  I have been waiting to share a few things with you all.  One of them is that I will be guest designing for the month of December at Layers of Color.  The very sweet and talented Laura asked me to design some cards using her wonderful stamps.  I totally fell in love with the beautiful butterflies from Butterfly Collector.
I used a technique for this card I saw on Beate's blog at Splitcoast stampers.  This is called the dryer sheet technique.  I stamped my image and colored it with Copics then adhered a used dryer sheet and rubbed glitter all over the image.  It really softens the image wonderfully.
I used some Basic Grey Capella paper I have been hoarding for a few weeks now along with some lace and distressed seam binding from Memrie Mare Etsy.  The Spellbinders dies are Labels 10.  A little machine stitching and a button make up all the shabby details.

I am honored to be featured along with her very talented designers.  You can take a look HERE and there is a link to all the fabulous blogs of her designers.  Thank you Laura for this opportunity.

I will be back!

Hello everyone.  I just wanted to let you know that I didn't get lost or forget about all of my wonderful blog friends.  We moved the day after Thanksgiving and it was very stressful.  I thought it would go smoothly, but I was definitely wrong.  The hot water heater was turned all the way down and we couldn't figure out how to get it turned up.  So after sweating all day we got cold showers.  I was not very happy.  Luckily my dad came over the next morning and found the tiny screw hidden under a cover that is screwed on and under lots of insulation.  We are use to gas hot water heaters in Iowa.  I am not sure if this is how all electric ones work.  It was a brand new hot water heater so I knew it wasn't broken.
I spent my whole day today washing all the  kitchen stuff.  Everything was stored for 8 months.  I found lots of spiders too.  My son found a Black Widow in the garage.  My hubby and I were pretty impressed he identified it so fast.  Then my husband emptied a whole can of spider spray on it.  I am not kidding either!  hehe
I will be back in a couple days worth some projects to share with you.  I miss you all and will be stopping by as soon as I can get caught up.

Big Hugs,
Heather

Happy Holidays

Hello my sweet blog friends.  I made a card for Mona's CR84FN color challenge.  She has a beautiful inspirational photo I was totally inspired by.  Brown, Red, and Tan.  Look how pretty these colors are for Christmas.  I love how it turned out...minus the fact that my sewing machine about made it to the sidewalk.  It was pulling on one side more than the other.  Which is why the top piece of paper is off to the right.  I said a few words then decided to leave it for now.  hehe.
set in different colors.  I have been on this crazy path of Christmas cards and skipped Thanksgiving. This set from PTI called Wreath for All Seasons is a wonderful set to have.  I keep forgetting aobut it.  I need to put together a Thanksgiving card or two real quick using this set in different colors.  I have been on this crazy path of making Christmas cards and have realized that I never made my Thanksgiving cards.  Go figure!
By the time I finished I was losing daylight.  I told my hubby if I only got one thing for Christmas that I needed a light tent.  I have had it with having to wait until the right time of day to photograph my cards.  I hate that they are inconsistent in light.  I am a little OCD when it comes to certain things.  Consistency is one of them.
If I can catch better light tomorrow I will take new pictures.  They just look so washed out.  :(

Thanks so much for stopping by
Have a wonderful week

Thank You Kindly

Oh, I am so happy to be back to share a card with you again.  I made this one for the new sketch at Waltzing Mouse.  I used some old KandCompany paper called Classic K.  The papers are so pretty and shabby in this pack.  I think Michales still sells it.  I made what I call a clean/shabby card.  You like that?  Hehe.
I used a metal brad flower, but took the brad out and replaced it with one of my Prima roses.  I love all the scrolls in the WM stamps.  They are so elegant!

I love the way this satin ribbon makes big loopy bows.  I like my loops to be on the smaller side with shorter tails.  I think the whole bow thing is preference.  What is yours?  I actually have two different ways I make my bows depending on what look I want.  I usually have one tail going up and one down.  If I want them both going down, I tie a Martha Stewart bow...that is what I call it because I learned it from her show.

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI/ Kraft, Rustic White
DP: K and Company
Stamps: Waltzingmouse
Ink: Memento/Rich Cocoa, Memento/
Other: Metal Flower, Prima flower, pearls

Christmas Greetings

Hello my sweet blog friends.  How are you doing this week?  I have been so busy my head is spinning.  I made this card last night for the Timeless Tuesday challenge at Flourishes.  The challenge is to make a Christmas card.  I have already made many of my Christmas cards with my Flourishes stamps.  I saw this image on Kathy Martin's blog.  It is one I don't already have.
I used a little MS glitter on the snowy branches.  I love the way that looks.  It just adds a little more to the card.
This is short and sweet today.  I am so tired.  I am off to take a nap.  hehe

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Thanks So Much

Hello again.  I made a card for this weeks color challenge over at Mona's blog called CR84FN.  She has a beautiful inspiration picture for you to drool over.  Pretty purples.  A color that there just isn't enough of out there in the papercrafting world if you ask me.
My dear sweet friends over at City Crafter have a "Thank You" challenge going on as well.  You can never have enough thank you cards.  The DT have some wonderful creations for you to be inspired by if you are in need of a little to get you going.  I also used the sketch at 2Sketches4You.  I am not sure if I made that on time or not.
See...I told you there was a stunning inspiration graphic that Mona's sweet hubby Scott put together with the so very talented photos from Leslie's A Creative Mint.  She has some of the most amazing pictures.  If you like to look at photography, I suggest you take a peek.
Supplies: Cardstock: PTI/Rustic White, Stamps: PTI/Polka Dot BasicsII and Background Basics/Text Style, 7Gypsies/Avignon, Ribbon and Embellishements: LilyBean Paperie Etsy, Cuttlebug Embossing Border folder, Ink: Memento/London/ Fog/ Tuxedo Black/ Pretty Petunia,

Look what I won:
This is a box of goodies I received from a dear sweet blog friend.  I won her giveaway and was absolutely blown away when I opened the box.  I thought I was just getting a necklace that she made.  Well, I got a whole box of beautiful items.  All black and white.  Jody has a blog called Home and Heart full of the prettiest vintage images and lots of her handmade jewelry.
She covered a little jewelry box in pretty paper and made this adorable hanging "pocket" you can see HERE.  There was a sweet card and little package of facial tissues.  All coordinating together.  It was layers and layers of fun to open.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Have a wonderful week

Happy Birthday

I am so happy to be able to share a card today.  I have been so busy the last couple weeks.  I will have a couple surprises to share in the coming weeks.  I can't wait to share with you all.
I made a card last night while I was trying to cook dinner.  So by the time I finished it was dark.   I had to wait until this morning to photograph it and post my card.  I used the sketch at Get Sketchy to get me started.  It worked perfectly for what I had in mind.  I made that flower from a couple of flat mulberry paper flowers.  I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist and I twisted the center flower and cut off the end...put it inside the other flower and there you have a pretty 3D flower.  I need to try and make some from cardstock.  I think they might be a little stiffer.
You like my glitter butterfly?  I love how it turned out.  I stamped my PTI butterfly in brown, then I  colored it with my Copics and covered in in my Martha Stewart glitter glue and used my Martha Stewart glitter in Crystal Fine.
A couple weeks ago I won a cute stamp set and die from Lil Inker Designs.  Love the cute sentiments and adorable little flag die that matches.  No more trying to hand cut my flag/banners.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  I am off to make another card.

Happy Holidays

Hello again.  It has been one very long week for me.  I am guessing this will be a very long few weeks coming up.  Tis the season.
I made a card for this weeks Timeless Tuesday at Flourishes which was to use glitter and used the sketch at Mercy Tuesday .   I had this big plan to use lots of glitter.  Well it didn't work out that way.  Funny how that happens hu?  The glitter is in the inside of the ornament and my two glitter brads at the bottom right.  I actually have ornaments that look like all of these in this stamp.  I have several pretty birds that clip on the tree and lots of pretty vintage ornaments with the centers like the on in the middle.  You can see this post HERE from last winter of my tree and ornaments.

I used some old Basic Grey Figgy Pudding and some new Memory Box paper in Tinsel.  Labels 14 Spellbinders dies and some Seam Binding from Bluebird Lane Etsy a button from PTI and the glitter brads are from Making Memories.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Have a wonderful weekend

Birthday Wishes

Happy Monday everyone.  I made this card yesterday and decided I would save it for today.  I used Mona's color challenge  CR84FN and Cardabilites sketch.
I used Waltzing Mouse Vintage Labels 10 and Fancy Phrases.  The fancy phrases alone wasn't enough for the front of the card so I decided to ink up the very pretty Vintage Labels and put it behind the sentiment.  Can I tell you how much I love these beautiful labels stamps by WM?  Yes?  I LOVE THEM!  They speak to my shabby chic heart.  Especially when used with Mona's stunning color combo.

We are going to get back into the 70's again in a couple days so it will feel like spring again. I tell ya this weather doesn't know what to do. We have had 50's for highs the last week. Perfect weather to just stand in the sun and not get hot.  That is one of my favorite things to do.

I used some old Basic Grey Sultry paper and PTI Rustic White cardstock along with Versa Magic Dew Drops in Tea Leaves and Pink Petunia.  A pretty Recollections flower and stitching around the edges finishes off my card.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Have a lovely week

Here Comes Santa Claus

Hello again.  I made a card last night for a sketch challenge at Sweet Sunday and realize that I should have loaded it last night.  I missed the cut off.  Oh well.  I also made it for that challenge at Flourishes "Bring Beautiful Back".  You need to use ribbon.  Well if you visit me often you know I rarely don't use a bow.
I Love how that Waltzing Mouse Holiday Labels 14 looks behind my SB oval.  Just peeking out the top and bottom.  The sweet little Candy Canes are from Flourishes Sweets of the Season.  They are a match made in heaven.  This is Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses paper and PTI Bitty Dot basics 2009.  Along with PTI Fine Linen satin ribbon.
I am totally stuck on this PTI die for all my cute little tags.  It fits almost all my Flourishes sentiments perfectly.  A little Tim Holtz ditress ink in Walnut Stain for the edges of all my paper and Antique Linen for the inside of my oval.  Oh I almost forgot...I put a little Xmas red Stickles on my berries.

The 2 challenges I used for my card:

CR84Fun/2sketches4You

Hello again!  I am so sorry I was gone for so long.  I feel like it has been forever since I posted.  I know it has only been days but that feels like a long time.
I made a card for my sweet blog friend Mona's new color challenge CR84FN.  She has the most beautiful color palette this week.  I fell back on my shabby ways and used a vintage image I have been wanting to use.
I also used the sketch at 2Sketches4You to get me started.  A great sketch always helps get me going in the right direction.
I have a before picture of this vintage image so you can see how I altered it.  I printed it out on some white cardstock and then colored the spool of thread with my Copics since it was very pale in color.  Then I used my absolute favorite color ink for altering which is the Tim Holtz distress ink in Antique Linen.  Now I have turned a very washed out image into something that matches my color scheme.  You could color the spool of thread any color you like.

Look at this beautiful inspiration photo.  I know it looks a little more clean with the crisp colors, but I was itching to make a shabby inked up vintage image card.  :)

Supplies: Cardstock: PTI/Kraft, DP: My Minds Eye, October Afternoon, Stamps:WaltzingMouse, Twill: Melissa Phillips Etsy, Lace: Wrights, Brads: Making Memories,Ink: Memento London Fog, Copics: as shown in Picture
