Happy Happy Birthday/Card Patterns

Hello everyone.  Are you having a great weekend so far?  It is HOT here.  I am definitely ready for fall.  I think I will be waiting for a while though.  It won't cool down here until October.  We are going to have temps in the 100's Monday and Tuesday.  At least the humidity is very low.  We haven't had much rain.

So here is my card for this weeks sketch challenge at Card Patterns.  We are sponsored by Sweet n Sassy designs.  This is the Poppy digital image.  Bet you would have never known.  I think this is the best digi image I have ever used.  I am very happy with the way this turned out.

Before and After

Hello!  I told you I would be back today with a post on my craft space.  Well it is much smaller than it was before I moved.  Before when we lived in Iowa I had half the basement.  Well, in Alabama basements are almost unheard of.  So I have 1/4 of the space I use to have.
Before:
I got these cubes at Target and Michaels.  I had enough room for 4 people to sit and create before along with 2 bookshelves and a wall mounted case my sweet hubby made for me.  Well, there is only room for 1 now.  I think I counted that I had 30 off these cubes all put together in a really cool layout.  I only have 8 of them here.  The rest are in storage along with the rest of my stuff.
Stuff everywhere!
I am so embarrassed.  hehe  But
I am sure there are a lot of you who's area looks very similar right now...am I correct?

After:
Notice the tail hanging out from my chair?  She loves to sit there and look out the window.  Then I sit there and have cat hair all over my bottom.   I love sitting in front of the window, I get a lot of natural light.   I even hung pretty light and airy curtains.  That is a vintage chair.  That was one of my first vintage purchases 10 years ago.  Y'all know how much I like Shabby/Vintage stuff!
All my glitter lined up by the colors of the rainbow.
My Mother In Law quilts and these are her beautiful creations.  I try and get some every time I go visit.  She is the most amazing quilter.  I am totally jealous.
I have a scrap drawer but it is so full I had to have a scrap basket.  I also just pull up my chair to the sewing machine and it works perfectly.  Not my ideal space but this is what I have to work with for now.
And this is the sweet face to the tail in the picture above.  She lays on the floor when I am crafting.  She is such a sweetheart.  Her name is Callie and she is a very skinny Mane Coon.  She has always been that way.  I have always left her bowl out for her to eat whenever she likes.  I guess she has a fast metabolism

Moxi Fab World/Shabby and Vintage

Hello everyone.  I have another card to share today.  I made a card for the Shabby and Vintage challenge at Moxi Fab World.  This is my style and what I feel most comfortable doing.  I love all the lace, doilies, satin ribbon, and Seam Binding.  One thing I have been doing lately is making my own stick pins for embellishments on my bows and using 2 different colors of seam binding for the bow as well.

I also stitched on top of the card.  Another sure way of adding to a shabby card.  And I used 2 different Glimmer Mist colors to the doily.  Wheatfields and Gold.  I love how the black stitching looks as a contrast to the bright yellow paper.
Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI/Kraft
DP: October Afternoon
Vintage image: Off the web
Seam Binding: Memire Mare
Stick Pin: Handmade by me

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you all are enjoying your week so far.

Moxi Fab World/Clean & Graphic

Hello.  Is everyone having  a good week so far?  I sure am.  I have been getting a lot of cards made.  This one is for the Moxie Fab World clean & graphic challenge.  Can you believe that this is the first one I attempted out of all their challenges for this card style week?  I figured it would be best to get the one out of the way that I would have the most trouble with.  I actually spent over 2 hours studying the clean and graphic style before I made this.

One would think that this style would be the easiest because there is so little on that card.  Well, from this shabby/vintage girl it wasn't easy.  I was proud of  myself in the end.  I think it turned out pretty darn good for a first try on this style.  What do you think?

I broke out my Dot Spot set from PTI.  I got this set when it released and haven't used it yet.    I like it especially for this style.

151 Picnic Time

Hello everyone.  I have another card to share with you today.  Woohoo!  I definitely have my mojo back.  :)
I made this card for a new blog challenge called Color Combos Galore.  They have beautiful inspiration pictures and ask that you draw from the picture when you design your card.  I saw 2 different colors of Orange in the photo, so I decided to use them both.  The yellow is just a hint on the left side and it looks like a party outside so I made a picnic themed card and took my picture on the deck to get that feel for the outdoors.
If you have time you should go checkout their blog challenge.  It is a bit different than any of the others.  Read carefully all the rules and requirements before you upload to the site.  Lets see if I can figure it out.  hehe.
It was pretty cloudy here today.  So I decided to take a picture outside.

Wonderful Friend/ Card Patterns #73

Hello!  I am so sorry I have been absent this last week.  I kinda lost my mojo.  Not sure what is going on.  I just didn't feel like making anything this week.  Until the time came for me to make my card for Card Patterns next sketch.  Then I knew what I had missed out on all week.  I got on and saw all my blog friends wonderful creations and felt horrible for not visiting.  I am so sorry.  So here is my creation for the challenge.

I just felt like doing  a bright and cheery card.  I have been drawn to the brighter colors lately.  I made this little embellishment in the center.  It is one of those Martha Stewart tags with a flower, button and a bit of lace.  I made several of these embellishments about a month ago and haven't used them yet.  So here is one of them.

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI/Plum Pudding
DP: Making Memories/Flea Market
Stamps: PTI/ Beautiful Blooms II
Ink: Versa Magic/ Perfect Petunia& Martha Stewart/Lilac
Tag: Martha Stewart
Others: Buttons, Lace, Floss

I will be back on the saddle and visiting and catching up.  I promise.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I truly missed you all.

My Mom and I

Hello everyone.  I just wanted to update you all and let you know that my mom is doing much better today and she will be coming home tomorrow.  She came through the surgery very well.  The Dr. and my family are very pleased with how well everything went.  I wanted to share a picture with you all.  This is from Mother's Day this year.  I think this is the only picture I have with my mom since I was little.  She and I both don't like our picture taken.
My brother was in the picture too but I cropped him out.  hehe.  I hadn't asked him if he wanted his picture up on my blog so I figured better safe than sorry.

This is my mom and my son.  I am surprised he actually smiled.  He doesn't like his picture taken either.

I wanted to thank you all again for all your prayers.  There were a few that commented that were no reply and I wasn't able to find your blog or an email to tell you thank you.  SO, Thank You from the bottom of my heart.

Big News

Hello everyone.  I have been sitting on some news for a while now.  The lovely girls Michelle, Tracy, and Nina have asked me to be on their design team at Card Patterns.  I graciously accepted.  I love their sketches and have played as long as I have had my blog.  I get to create alongside of these girls plus 2 other new DT members.  The new DT will be revealed today at the Card Patterns blog.  Go check out the other new girls and leave some love for the fabulous girls who will be leaving.  I am so honored that they have chosen me out of all the wonderful talent out there.

On another note..my mother is having her surgery today on her  brain tumor.  Please send some love and prayers her way.  Send some for me too.  I am completely stressed out.  This is a very risky surgery.  I will be sitting very impatiently for hours during the surgery.
***Update***  My mom had her surgery and she is doing very well.  Her head hurts but that is a given when you have someone drill holes in your head.  I am so relieved.  I am tired...and going to bed.  This has been one long day for me.  I am grateful for all of you and the love and prayers you just keep sending our way.

Hugs to you all.  I can't begin to tell you how much each and every one of you mean to me.  It is you that keep me going during this stressful time.
