Thank You for all you do

Hello my sweet blog friends.  I am back with one last card for the month of August.  I have had this pretty new paper from MME for about a month and still hadn't used it, so I put it to good use today.  If you visit me often you know that I am a big fan of pink.  :)

I used the fabulous sketch at Deconstructed Sketch.

Falling Leaves

Today you're going to see some fun creations from the Design Team with a couple of our still beautiful but older sets Ferns and Fiddles and Falling Leaves ...perfectly inspiring for the upcoming season of Autumn!

I have a bit of a before and after for you.  I made the top card on Wednesday and had a specific idea or look that I had in mind when I set out to create this card.  As you can see, I completely changed it on Thursday.  I am very leary of using colored cardstock, it can really make or break your card, in my opinion.  I had originally chose the orange colored cardstock because it had a fall feel with the brown and metal colored leaves.  After I photographed it and saw it on my computer, I nearly had a heart attack!  It looked nothing like what I normally create, and honestly wanted to throw it into the circular file.

BEFORE:

So here we are with the after.  I took my guillotine trimmer and cut the main stamped panel off and trimmed it down to fit my vertical orientation card.  Can you hear the sigh of relief?  This feels a little more like me and what I normally create.  I took plain seam binding and used 3 different distress inks to achieve this color by misting the ribbon with water and soaking up some ink off my craft mat. I then took 2 leaf stick pins and colored them with my Copics to get a patina on them.

AFTER:

I used Perfect Pearls along with some Tim Holtz Embossing ink to achieve the metallic look of the leaves.  It wasn't easy to photograph the card in a way that really shows the sheen from the leaves, it is a lot prettier IRL.

Lenten Rose

Hello again.  I hope you all have had a fabulous week so far, it is still scorching here in Iowa.  Fall can't come fast enough!  Wednesday's we have early out at school so that meant I had some time to make a few cards.

I used my Tim Holtz Distress markers for my image.  It is fun to work with something else other than Copics sometimes too.

I decided to play along with the Fusion Card Challenge.  You can choose to use just the sketch, just the photo or both.  I chose both.  Love the pink and green together!

Giving Thanks

Hello, I hope you all had a great weekend.  I went back to work on Tuesday and this year I am at the high school instead of the elementary school.  It has been under major construction for several years now and is in its final stage.  We don't have plumbing on our side of the school and the air conditioning is having a hard time keeping up with the high 90 degree temps we have been having, plus all the openings from construction and workers going in and out is leaving the school super HOT.  I have been wearing shorts or capri pants every day, not sure it looks professional but at this point I am not worried about that.  I have to take a nice walk each time I need to use the restroom too!  The high school is the largest in the state of Iowa with 2,000 or more kids enrolled, I still have not found my way around the building yet.

I used the sketch over at Sweet Stop for my inspiration.

Just Because

Today the Flourishes Senior Team is going to do something a little different! We're going to spend this Friday on a Technique Focus we think you'll enjoy. It's one that's very "hot" in the cardmaking industry right now, watercolor. You'll see many examples of some great watercoloring techniques along the way with the Design Team.

I used ProMarkers in Celery,  Cherry Blossom and Straw Yellow.  They were very easy to use.  I just scribbled a little of each color on a clean stamp block and picked up some color with an aqua painter, then colored in the open spaces.

OTHER SUPPLIES USED:
Cardstock: Flourishes Classic White
