CR84FN 27

It is time for another CR84FN challenge.  This weeks colors were hard for be because Hot Pink and Grey are not colors I keep in my arsenal of pretty papers.  They are pretty together and remind me of prom colors.  I started off with the new sketch at Card Patterns and it just wasn't working out for me.  So here is what I came up with.

I wanted to tell all of you Happy Mother's Day.  I will be spending my day with my family.  If you have been following me for a while you know that right before Mother's Day last year we found out that my mom has a brain tumor and I was sure she wouldn't be here this year for Mother's Day.  I am blessed to still have here here with me.  I will cherish the time I have with her now because I know the day will come when she won't be here.  We are and have always been very close.  Even when I lived in Iowa I called her every day on my way to work and on my way home.  There was never a day that went by without us talking to each other.  Even now that I live a mile down the road we talk several times a day and I go over almost every day that I am off.  Are you very close to your mom?  Do you have any special plans for the day?

I used Basic Grey, and MME patterned paper and PTI cardstock in Rustic Cream.  The grey CS is from Stampin Up.  Flower and leaves are Reccollections from Michales craft store.  Spellbinders dies for the doily and PTI banner border dies for the border.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Heather

I am so happy for you that your mum is still with you. Your post touched my heart. I know what you mean; the day will come that she won't be there with you. Enjoy this day; have fun and make some wonderful memories together.
We are having a very quiet mothers'day. Both our sons are not at home but that's ok.
My mum doesn't live anymore but I cherish the wonderful memories.
Have a lovely day; wishing you and your families a wonderful and happy day!
Hugs,
Stella

Hi Heather,

Love the card you made! It's really stylish! Sorry to hear about your mum, but it's wonderful that she is still with you! Hope her quality of life is still good as well! I must admit that I don't really am close to my mum. Of course I love her 'cause she's my mum, but when I was 16 (already 17 years ago ;-) the has had a brain-bleed and she's been in a caring home since, she can't move her right side, can't speak normally and her emotions are disturbed. So this was in the way of being really close, especially the speaking, we can hear what she says, but it's all really slow and you have to listen carefully. I'm used to it, after so many years, but sometimes I'm sad about it and think about how it could have been... Hope you will be able to enjoy your mum for a veeeeery long time to come!! Wishing you and her all the best!
Hugs, Wendy

Absolutely stunning card Heather!!! Such a beautiful pink daisy! I just bought a big, pink Gerbrea daisy yesterday for our deck and I love it!!!
I hope you enjoyed Mother's Day! I live so far from my mom (although we'll be moving closer soon :)). So sad to hear about your mom - so glad you are able to be close and cherish her company and she yours. Sending all kinds of positive thoughts and wishes for many more times to come!

What a beautiful card, Heather! I love especially the beautiful background that it all is based on and the text leaves. I, too am so lucky to still have my Mom with us - she will be 87 in the summer, and I am so aware of each moment we have together! I was lucky enough to be able to spend the weekend with her, too, though we are hours apart.....
